Wonderful Winter Weddings

Two D Photography

We love Winter weddings. And it's not just because we are crazy about Christmas here.

We love crisp, Winter days filled with blue skies. We love snow (although do excuse the odd pink nose on your wedding, we are outside a lot of time)! Top of our list would probably be the food, especially sticky toffee pudding (we go nuts whenever a caterer has any left for us)!

There are literally thousands of ideas to help make your wedding a tad more "Wintery" and here are just a few of our favourites:

Add festive flowers and foliage to a modern wedding cake to help tie in the Winter theme! Flavour wise fruit cake always makes it way back to Dodmoor as soon as the temperature drops and we've recently seen flavours such as apple and mixed spice, chocolate orange, Winter berry and even Guinness!

Twinkly, romantic light in the Catesby Barn makes it the cosiest place to be. Think dimmed LOVE letters, candelabras, tapered dinner candles and rich gold, burgundy and navy blue. We personally think the more candles the better; the sun will set early enough for you to enjoy the candlelit ambience for your first meal as newlyweds.

To tie your colour scheme together we think coloured linen or napkins make a huge statement. The Dodmoor candelabras are at their most stunning in the Winter; why not get your florist to dress them up with fresh foliage to create a fantastic installation?

A faux fur or fluffy shrug is definitely the way to accessorise your wedding dress in the colder months. They add a real statement to your photos.

Make sure your bridesmaids get one too - they have to pose for all the photos and would really appreciate something to keep them warm!

How cute are these favours!? A super classy way of adding a touch of Christmas to a wedding for those that want a Winter wedding not a Christmas wedding. Other great ideas are tiny bottles of sloe gin (because alcohol always wins), little mince pies or personalised baubles which can act as name places too.

FOOD. Our favourite subject.

A lot of people will have been to Christmas parties with turkey or are absolutely sick of it come the end of January. A beautifully piece of roast beef cannot go wrong! Other menus we've loved in the past year include family style pies to the tables with veg or sausage and mash should please nearly everyone.

In the evening ask your caterers to put on an epic cheeseboard for you or why not have crepes which satisfy both savoury lovers and those with a sweet tooth!

It's not always possible to go outside for a confetti photo so we can arrange a confetti tunnel for your guests in the Courtyard Barn! They may for some great alternative photos.

Let us know what you'd like to see at a Winter wedding!
