How did your photography journey start?
I was given a camera for my 21st birthday and my love of photography began there. I've always loved taking photos of family and friends and when a friend asked me to photograph his wedding, I rediscovered my passion for photography. The idea for the business was born and it was a natural progression to move to photography from my previous career. That was 20 years ago and happily, I still love photography now, weddings in particular!

What is your general photography style?
We've always taken a relaxed, unobtrusive and friendly approach in our photography, fusing it seamlessly with some of the more formal elements of the wedding, and we will photograph your day as it naturally unfolds. We photograph everything from the smallest details, right through to the biggest moments and will guide you through the entire process should you wish.
What do you enjoy most about the job?
We love meeting new people and its always nice to be a part of someones wedding day. We love to take candid photos and document what's happening and then present them to the couple afterwards so that they can see the entire day and things they might have missed out on. This job ticks all the creative boxes from a personal perspective, and we love giving our couples something they can look at for years to come and
remember their special day!

What do you enjoy most about shooting weddings at Dodmoor?
No matter what the season might be, the venue always looks spectacular and is beautifully presented, providing a wonderful backdrop for your photos. This means that we as photographers, can concentrate on you and your photos rather than having to tidy around the background. If we need to move furniture around or anything needs to be changed to create the perfect photo, the lovely staff are tremendously helpful and accommodating in that they’re happy for things to be moved, changed or relocated.
How do you approach shooting a wedding at Dodmoor?
We’ll have conversations with our couple, to ensure that we have all the information we need and fully understand what our couple would like from us on the day. Dodmoor are excellent at providing us with all of the details and timings for your wedding well in advance, so that we can ask any questions or request any further information that we may need. The wonderful staff make themselves available on the big day, just in case of any last minute requirements.

What are your favourite photo spots at Dodmoor?
There are so many stunning spots to take photos within the grounds of Dodmoor House itself, we’re spoilt for choice! One of our most favourite spots is right by the House; it’s close by, so it’s not taking you away from your guests for a prolonged period, it’s the venue for your wedding and so is lovely to have it feature in a number of your photos and there’s the opportunity for a variety of photos within a small area. If there’s time, we also love the gorgeous winding lane and green, leafy canal towpath close by, which make for a stunning backdrop to your photos.
How do you approach shooting a rainy wedding day at Dodmoor?
We’ve been photographing at Dodmoor in all seasons for almost 20 years and rain has never stopped us taking beautiful photos of a wedding! Luckily, if we don’t manage to venture outside, Dodmoor has some lovely areas indoors, but it’s very unusual for us not to go out at all. We invariably bring umbrellas along to every wedding, so if you’re willing to brave the rain, it can make for the most stunning photos!

What is your favourite part of the wedding day, from a photographer’s perspective?
We love every part of a wedding! As
photographers, we tell the story of your day through photos, from when you get ready, to the walk down the aisle and right through to the dancing.
If we absolutely had to choose, the bit we love the most is when we take you away for some photos of you both after the wedding breakfast. It gives the two of you a chance to spend a quiet few moments together on your own, the formal proceedings are generally over and couples usually tell us that by this point in their day they’re much more relaxed and ready for their picture perfect moment!
What advice would you give to couples for their wedding day, from a photographer’s perspective?
The one thing that we hear most often from couples is that the day goes past in the blink of an eye! You’ve been planning it for so long we absolutely encourage our couples to relax, spend some quiet time with each other and enjoy their day, letting the wonderful folk at Dodmoor look after you and your guests!

Trust your photographer. We’ve been photographing weddings at Dodmoor House since it first opened and are incredibly familiar with it; we know every little nook and cranny and all of the best places to take photos, no matter what the fickle British weather brings. If you have any questions, make sure you ask your photographer and do tell them if there are any specific or important photos that you would like on your day.
What is something that stands out to you about Dodmoor House?
The staff there are positively amazing and will consistently go above and beyond to create the day of your dreams. It’s a perfect layout for a wedding venue, keeping everyone together and creating a fabulous atmosphere. In terms of photography, it’s the variety of photos that are possible, that make it such an exceptional venue; the gardens, the house, the leafy canal side, the winding lanes and the barns – we’re spoilt for choice!

Come along to our Photographer Showcase Event on Saturday 8th November to meet Tim and more wonderful photographers we recommend! Have a walk around the barns, grounds and chat to our lovely wedding coordinators!
