How did your photography journey start?

My Grandad always had a passion for photography, he bought me my first film camera and began teaching me. My love for art then lead me to study fine art photography at University before adjusting to digital photography when I began working in a studio and then fell in love with Weddings!

What is your general photography style?

ree

I would describe my style as timeless with an unobtrusive approach. Capturing the special moments and feeing of the day as well as ensuring my couples have a set of Photographs of them and their family and friends to cherish.

What do you enjoy most about the job?

I absolutely love when couples see each other for the first time, being able to encapsulate that moment for them to look back on feels magical.

What do you enjoy most about shooting weddings at Dodmoor?

The fantastic team, the day always runs so smoothly with a lovely atmosphere. The beautiful countryside setting is the perfect peaceful backdrop.

How do you approach shooting a wedding at Dodmoor?

There is so much natural daylight that floods in to the barn areas I always make sure I know the sunsetting times to ensure we make the most of the daylight hours. Once the sun sets the warm twinkling lit up courtyard is ready for the evening.

What are your favourite photo spots at Dodmoor?

ree

So many to mention…The Farmhouse driveway which is lined with the Blossom trees, the Canal bridge and the country lane are perfect spots for some soft lit golden hour shots.

How do you approach shooting a rainy wedding day at Dodmoor?

The courtyard enables us to get some stunning atmospheric shots just by stepping out of the barn using clear umbrellas we can get some fun and creative shots there. I love to use the farmhouse door for some sheltered moments and from the mezzanine too you can get a cracking shot of all the guests from up there!

What is your favourite part of the wedding day, from a photographer’s perspective?

I encourage my couples to take a walk around the beautiful grounds. I feel it is important for them to take some time together; this is the perfect time for us to capture some couple shots.

What advice would you give to couples for their wedding day, from a photographer’s perspective?

Try and relax and enjoy watching all your planning come together, you have chosen suppliers that you trust so now is the time to enjoy all of your hard work! Also do take a moment out with your partner to be together and reflect on the day so far before the Wedding Breakfast, it can feel overwhelming at times so you need to take a breath and let it all sink in.

What is something that stands out to you about Dodmoor House?

It’s a venue that is photogenic whatever the time of year with the kindest Coordinators, who make sure your day runs smoothly!

Thanks so much to Emma for sharing her story, and her thoughts about photography and Dodmoor House!
