Lauren and Mat's Summer Wedding

Updated: Jul 3, 2021

How we met...

Through friends.

The proposal...

Mat proposed on the beach while we were on holiday, it took me by total surprise!

Our vision for the day...

We wanted our day to be rustic but colourful - I couldn’t pick a colour scheme so we went with all the colours! We always dreamt of a relaxed and informal yet still special day – and it was!

The outfits...

Lauren wore a Wed2b Dress, Lennox in a blush colour. Mat, best man and father of the bride wore navy tweed (this was always Mat’s dream suit) with bright coloured ties from Abitto. The bridal party (Maid of honour and 2 flower girls) wore navy (Wed2b Maid of Honour and lace flower girl dresses from Hebeos)

The food...

We had canapes served with the drinks reception and then our wedding breakfast consisted of grazing platters served individually followed by a trio of mini deserts. In the evening we had pulled pork served with apple sauce and salads.

Our favourite part of the day...

The ceremony and having our first dance outside in the courtyard. The drinks reception was also wonderful!

The idea that we felt worked well on the day...

Impulsively deciding to have our first dance outside was beautiful and really special, a memory we will treasure forever.

Entertainment we put on...

Magician – Owen Strickland Magic - He was brilliant and really funny!

Where we feel our budget was really well spent...

I saved a lot by decorating the venue myself with help from Mat and a close friend. Louise from Dodmoor was also extremely helpful with this as she helped to channel my vision when it came to decorating the cake and tweaking some ideas so they looked perfect.

Personal touches that reflected us as a couple...

Everyone relaxing outside in the courtyard, drinks flowing and making the most of the sunshine. The colours definitely reflected Lauren’s personality and again, dancing outside as I think It helped to calm Mat's nerves!

Suppliers we used and loved...

- Owen Strickland Magic

- Homemade by Linda based in Elmesthorpe Leicestershire made our delicious cake and brownie selection

- Jill Carnall Photography - We have worked with Jill before and she always captures our fun side and is super creative with her work

- Hair by Lisa J - I LOVED my hair!

- Makeup by Kerry (Beautiful You Beautician and MUA)

Finally, if we could give a tip to other couples...

Relax! Don’t sweat the small stuff (as I did a little and it really doesn’t matter! We are SO beyond happy to finally be husband and wife, enjoy the day as it flies by and utilise Louise as much as you need to as she is really helpful!

Special thanks to Lauren and Mat for sharing their story, and Jill Carnall for the photos x
