Kelly and Karl's Winter Wedding

How we met...

We met at work :)

The proposal...

Karl knelt down by the side of the bed after a family Christmas Eve party. It was just me and him, which made it perfect.

Our vision for the day....

We didn’t really have a theme, but we’ve always liked the rustic barn style, with a mixture of pastel colours.

Our outfits.....

The groom and groomsmen wore brown tweed suits, which fitted the venue perfectly. My bridesmaids wore lovely floor length dresses with faux fur shawls. My dress was ivory with an illusion back, beading on the bodice, and an extra long train with lace trimming.

Food...

We chose to give guests a choice for each course. For starters it was either chicken liver parfait or mozzarella sticks. Mains were chicken wrapped in bacon with greens and mashed potatoes, or butternut squash risotto. For dessert, it was chocolate orange and Cointreau torte or raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake. All quite hearty foods, which fitted the cold season perfectly. All supplied by your Dodmoor recommended Portfolio Events.

Our favourite part of the day.....

My favourite part was definitely walking down the aisle and seeing Karl’s face. Also, just having all my close family and friends there to help us celebrate was amazing.

The plan/idea that you felt really worked on the day.....

Some of the planned/staged photographs that we had asked our photographer Emma Brooks to take, as they worked so well.

Entertainment.....

It was a rustic DJ set up supplied by smooth move events. We also had a magic mirror photo booth which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Where we felt that our budget was really well spent...

The food and drinks packages were well worth the money spent.

Personal touches that really made the wedding day reflect us as couple....

I think it was more the laid back vibe we had throughout the day, so that everyone just felt comfortable.

Recommended suppliers...

As mentioned before we used quite a few of Dodmoor's recommended suppliers. Orange blossom florist provided the most stunning flowers for both the venue and the bouquets. Portfolio Events, for the delicious food and hog roast in the evening, and Emma Brooks photography for the incredible photos.

Top tip for future Dodmoor couples...

Just embrace every moment and make sure to take at least 15 minutes out of the day to speak to your new husband or wife, so that you can talk about how the day has been so far and really take it all in.

A special thank you to Kelly and Karl for sharing their day with us, and to Emma Brooks Photography for the photos x
