Georgie and James' Summer Wedding

weddings

How we met...

At school on a sports tour to Australia in 2009!

The proposal...

On our hotel balcony overlooking Sorrento over pre-drinner drinks. Total perfection.

What made us choose Dodmoor for our special day...

We loved the feel and intimacy of the venue, but also the organisation and professionalism of the staff.

Our vision for the day...

Chic and classic. No theme as such, but I knew exactly how I wanted it to look with all the acrylic signs, so making it was really straight forward.

What we wore...

My dress was from MadeWithLove and I knew before I tried it on that it was exactly what I wanted. The girls wore midi cowl dresses which I loved – modern and no fuss.

The food...

Canapes and three courses!

Somerset brie and cranberry tartlets, lamb and smoked paprika koftas, garlic tiger prawn skewers.

Deep fried Bocconcini mozzarella balls, with Harissa dressing.

Balsamic and lemon chicken, cherry vine tomatoes, with red pepper coulis.

TRIO of desserts! Lemon posset, chocolate brownie and lemon brûlée tart.

Our favourite part of the day...

The whole day from start to finish. I loved the church so much, but also just the flow and organisation at Dodmoor was faultless.

What made Dodmoor stand out as a venue to us...

The look and feel of the courtyard as you walk in. We loved the Bridal Suite for getting ready and for staying over too. We also liked the trestle tables for a more relaxed feel.

We absolutely CANNOT sing Dodmoor’s praises enough, and it does not feel like a wedding machine at all. We were made to feel so incredibly special from the very second we visited Dodmoor, and it truly feels like such a special team who run it. From Dodmoor giving us as much time as we needed for our parents to come and visit initially, to the personalised emails to us that showed they knew us and cared about us really showed what a tailored approach to each and every couple they give.

Nadine could not have made our day any better, and she holds a very, very special place in our hearts for ensuring our day ran so beautifully. She exudes passion for her job and we very much hope it is known how much we appreciated her love and attention to us on our day, but also in the build-up too. Every single member of the Dodmoor team is an asset, from our wedding coordinator Nadine, to the bar staff, to the clearing away team – always with a smile on their faces, always so professional, and ALWAYS willing to go the extra mile. We cannot thank Dodmoor enough for such a beautiful day, and it was absolutely down to the slick attention to detail that meant our day could be the success that it was. Thank you all so much.

The plan we felt worked well on the day...

The organisation was key to the success. It was so well arranged ahead of the day, that I entered the day with zero concerns about anything as I knew it was planned to perfection.

Entertainment we put on...

Where we feel our budget was well spent...

The whole day! We did our research and really considered costs where we could, so we could justify all of our choices.

Personal touches that made the wedding reflect us as a couple...

I made all our signage, menus, invitations, everything, so that was really nice. We made all our confetti, but also only had recommended suppliers from our friends and family, so we trusted every supplier we had.

Suppliers we used and loved...

Dough Department - Great pizza company and so really reasonably priced for when we booked.

The Copper Kitchen - Amazing value and the cake was so fresh! She was so open to creating exactly what we wanted too, which was lovely.

EDEN WILD - The most beautiful florist you will ever come across! She is so incredibly creative and generous, and just a pleasure to work with.

Petite Rouge - Great band and worked with us beautifully for our rowdy guests!

Finally, if we could give a tip to other couples...

Get organised, get a spreadsheet going to keep on top of your spending, and think solely about what YOU want your day to be. It is so, so easy to get swept into the ‘done thing’, but we don’t regret a thing about our day because it was what we wanted, not sticking to the status quo.

Take a step back when things get a little heated about choices, and come back to it because it’s about you two, and what will make you happy.

Special thanks to Georgie and James for sharing their story, and Light and Lace for the photos x
