Updated: Jul 11, 2021

Weddings are so very personal and we love everyone's unique ideas here at Dodmoor. After a year of restrictions and postponements, we are now back in full swing. This year's new and exciting trends range from the colours of the year to sustainability. Here are some of our favourites that you might like to incorporate into your wedding:

No.1: Outdoor weddings

Weddings with a breath of fresh air are the way to go for a romantic yet Covid-friendly day in 2021. As of 1st July, until April 2022, civil ceremonies can now take place entirely outdoors allowing greater flexibility for couples. This will be discussed more in a later blog post, so, keep an eye out! Especially in spring and summer months, Dodmoor is exploring the opportunities of both outdoor ceremonies and entertainment. This option provides a safe environment for guests without the need for masks.

Dodmoor also provides a variety of outdoor games including Croquet, Boules and big Jenga; perfect for entertaining kids and/or adults. Outdoor evening entertainment, such as acoustic singers, before 9pm in the courtyard can also create a relaxed yet fun atmosphere.

No.2: Full on Hollywood Glamour

After over a year of postponements and tracksuit-bottom wearing at home, couples are desperate for a glamorous wedding. Dramatic yet classic décor ensure that the long awaited day does not disappoint. Roses and sparkle seem to be the go to for a long awaited, glamorous 2021 wedding. Similarly, some brides to be are opting for luxurious Duchesse Satin Dresses, which light up the face with their natural glow. These can be essential ingredients to an unforgettable and elegant day, with an ambience of opulence!

No.3: Mini wedding cakes and single tiers

While tiers during the pandemic haven't been so exciting, these single tier cakes are something we think you can get on board with. Although both single tier cakes and mini cakes are smaller, they are no less beautiful and leave a big impact. They allow a range of delicious flavours to suit a variety of taste buds. For instance, many couples are serving mini cakes to keep their wedding fun and exciting. Single tier cakes also allow the tradition of cutting the cake to continue even in the smaller weddings we are increasingly seeing.

No.4: Sustainability

Think eco-friendly entwined with romance. Sustainability has been on the radar for a few years and has become increasingly popular since the start of the pandemic. Many have had their eyes opened to the benefits of locally sourced produce and sustainable fashion. This trend can be at the forefront of your wedding with advertised recycling bins and recycled table decorations. However, you may prefer to pursue this behind the scenes through cutting down food miles or buying a sustainably made wedding dress. However you chose to incorporate this into your wedding, it would not only make it a day to remember but a day of doing some good.

No.5: Pastel Shades & Yellow

From lilac to pastel peach, all the pastel shades are big in 2021. You may choose to incorporate these into your wedding through table decorations or bridesmaid dresses. Pastels are seen to be the new trendy alternative to the traditional blush and ivory. As another alternative, yellow is back! Not only is it the colour of happiness but it guarantees the venue will have a bright yet friendly feel. Yellow surprisingly looks great with a lot of colours, including lush green, greys and blue. Therefore making it easy to incorporate into any pre-planned theme.

Above all though, the key thing is to make your wedding day very personal - and very you! That is the one theme which never changes and we are here to support you in those individual choices at Dodmoor...
