Emma-Louise and Marc's Autumn Wedding

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

How we met...

Marc and I met when he employed me for my first ever part-time job! The whole interview was spent talking about our passion for travelling and how we hope to travel one day.

The proposal...

Marc and I stopped over in Dubai to celebrate New Years Eve on the way to New Zealand. Marc originally planned to propose to me romantically on a boat at midnight. Due to the chaotic-ness of the night, Marc wasn't able to do it on the boat as planned. We had an early flight the next morning to Auckland and so we rushed back to the hotel, where he planned to propose in private. I of course just wanted to get to bed as we had an early fight to catch, and wanted to get as much sleep as possible. Whilst Marc was trying to corner me to give me a romantic speech, I was pushing past him saying “what are you doing?”, “I need to brush my teeth”, “stop smothering me!!” (Famous last words)

Eventually I settled down and Marc gave me the most romantic speech, and got down on one knee. I love you really Marc!

Our vision for the day...

Our vision was rustic with a travel theme. We also had the colours of burgundy and gold throughout!

What we wore...

I bought the most amazing boho dress from Serendipity Brides! Marc hired his suits from Forgarty in Leighton Buzzard. Both incredible places!

The food...

We booked Clara’s Kitchen for our canapés and wedding breakfast! The food was absolutely incredible and so many guests commented on how amazing the food was. People particularly enjoyed the brownie, it was the talk of the night! For the evening we had a hog roast through the Stuffed Pig Co and booked a cheese and doughnut cart through Sweet and Scrumptious! Everything was amazing and really went down a treat with our guests!

Our favourite part of the day...

My favourite part of the day was walking down the aisle to 'the power of love' played on the harp. I was behind my four amazing bridesmaids, and I just felt so magical.

The idea that we felt really worked on the day...

The best idea we had was to do the speeches before the meal! It meant the boys could get it out of the way and enjoy their food without any nerves!

The evening entertainment...

We booked an amazing DJ called Neil. His business is called Delux Sounds Entertainment, and his service from beginning to end was second to none! Everyone enjoyed the music! We also booked Vix Caricatures and it went down such a treat! There was a queue all night for people to get their drawings done!

Where we feel the budget was well spent...

I feel like the budget was definitely well spent on the venue and the videographer! We used FJ West Weddings for our video, and we can’t wait to see it!

Personal touches that made the wedding reflect us as a couple...

As we are so passionate about travel, the travel themed wedding cake and the travel theme throughout the wedding made it so personal to us! Our favours were little suitcases with chocolates inside! I loved them!

Finally, if we could give one tip to other couples...

Firstly it would be to get a videographer so that you can re-live your day again and again! We’re so excited to watch ours! Finally it would be to enjoy it; I loved the whole planning process of our wedding and I would love to do it all over again!

A special thanks to Emma-Louise and Marc for sharing their story, and to their photographer Tim Hudson for use of some of the photos x
