How we met...
In our final year at the University of Derby, at a house party of a mutual friend.
The proposal...
Rob planned a surprise weekend away in the Cotswolds and Bleinheim palace, and proposed over breakfast.
Our vision for the day...
We wanted to have a relaxed day, nothing too formal. We wanted it to be an intimate day and make sure our guests felt comfortable.
I’m a big lover of flowers and so I wanted our theme and colours to all surround our choice of flowers.
The outfits...
I bought my dress from Bea’s Bridal Boutique. I’d tried on a few dresses to begin with but I just felt like I was in fancy dress, and then when I tried on mine I instantly felt incredible and knew it was the one.
Rob and his groomsmen opted for neutral suits from Moss Bros Hire with sage green ties to match the bridesmaids.
The food...
Lemon Zest did an amazing job feeding our guests. We opted for a beef roast and chocolate pudding for the wedding breakfast, and then we had mini fish and chips for the evening meal which was delicious.
Our favourite part of the day...
Walking down the aisle had to be my favourite part of the day. As soon as Taylormade starting singing Can’t Help Falling In Love I began to well up. Walking down the aisle with both my Grandpa and Grandad by my side and walking towards my husband to be with a massive smile on my face is a memory I will treasure forever.
The idea we felt worked well on the day...
Only myself and Rob did speeches on the day (followed by a cheeky one from my brother!) and I felt like that worked really well. I wanted to put my own spin on tradition and I really liked that that time was for me and Rob to thank our guests and say a few words about each other.
Entertainment...
We had Taylormade Duo provide music throughout the drinks reception and then Taylormade Live Band played in the evening.
Where we feel our budget was really well spent...
The flowers! I was so happy with how the flowers turned out, and I loved that there were beautiful pops of colour throughout the venue.
Personal touches that reflected us as a couple...
Our table names were songs that remind us of each other and make us smile.
Suppliers we used and loved...
Arron Collett Photography – absolutely amazing, he’s already sent us all the photos and we love them. He’s captured all the joy and happiness of the day.
Lemon Zest – the food was beautiful and the staff were so attentive. We ended up booking with them 6 months before our wedding due to our original caterer backing out, so we were really appreciative that they were able to take us on.
Taylormade – incredible Acoustic Duo and Live Band. Carley was so responsive and supportive all the way through our planning and delivered an amazing performance on the day which was loved by all our guests.
Sophie Duffy Makeup – Sophie was amazing. For a while I was wondering if I could do my own wedding makeup but I’m so glad I decided to book Sophie, my makeup looked incredible and lasted all day.
Julie Anna Flowers – I was so amazed with how Julie Anna Flowers had captured what I had in my mind and delivered exactly that. I absolutely loved my flowers.
Finally, if we could give a tip to other couples...
In the lead up to your wedding day when things start getting chaotic, make some time to just be you two, such as date nights or having a bottle of wine on the sofa listening to your favourite music.
Special thanks to Kerry and Rob for sharing their story, and to Aaron Collett for the photos x
