From Classroom to 'I Do': Alice & Cam's Unforgettable Wedding!

How we met...

We went to school together and were in the same form, but didn’t speak much back then. Fast forward to 2017, we bumped into each other at a bar in town and have been inseparable ever since.

The proposal...

It was early Christmas morning 2022. I was a bit hungover from my birthday the day before when Cam called me downstairs. To my surprise, there he was, down on one knee in the living room, with the Christmas tree all lit up.

Why we choose Dodmoor House for our special day...

Having worked at Dodmoor since I was 16, I always knew it was the place for me, and luckily Cam agreed! We love that we could have our drinks reception and speeches outside (if the weather behaved), with the lovely barns as a cosy back-up.

The vision and theme for the day...

We envisioned a traditional, country wedding with seasonal flowers and a hint of homemade charm. We wanted the day to be relaxed, fun, and memorable for everyone.

The outfits!

My dress was from Serendipity Brides, designed by Stella York. I knew I wanted sleeves, and while the original dress didn’t have them, Stitched Up created the perfect sleeves for me. Cam wore a suit from Moss Bros with a Campbell tartan waistcoat.

Food...

After a taster session with Lemon Zest, we settled on Brie, Roasted Red Pepper, and Caramelised Onion Tartlet, Sirloin of Beef, and a Trio of Desserts. The evening food was by Chicken Shed, who served up amazing chicken burgers and potato tots.

Our favourite parts of the day...

The whole day was incredible, but my mum and sister surprising everyone with the undercover waiters (click here to see the surprise!) that are recommended by Dodmoor House was an absolute highlight. It was so much fun, and our guests loved it!

How Dodmoor as a venue stood out to us...

We love everything about Dodmoor House, especially the fantastic staff.

One plan or idea that really worked...

Having drinks on the lawn, then moving everyone to the courtyard for speeches, worked brilliantly. We also had our first dance a bit later so all the evening guests could join in.

Where we felt our budget was well spent...

The Dodmoor House drinks package—it was lovely for our guests to enjoy a few drinks without worrying about the cost.

Personal touches that reflected us as a couple...

Our stationery featured our home counties’ flowers—a thoughtful touch by Alex Design and Print, who knows us both well.

Our tip to other couples:

Definitely get a videographer—it’s so nice to watch the day back. And most importantly, enjoy every moment, because it flies by!
