Sian and Frazer's Autumn Wedding

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

How we met... We met on a night out in Lancaster, where we both went to university. Frazer was on a reunion night and I was in my third year. Frazer and his friends wanted to know the best places to go, so struck up conversation with me and my friends. We kissed in the final bar and Frazer offered me his coat to walk home. The rest as they say, is history!

The proposal... Frazer organised a surprise weekend to Paris to celebrate both of our birthdays. He decided to go all out and popped the question at the top of the Eiffel tower. It was closing time, so quite quiet, with no crowds. I was too distracted looking at Paris by night to realise that Frazer was down on one knee, and when I did realise, the first thing I said was ‘are you being serious?!’. We celebrated with cheap champagne!

Our favourite part of the day... We both loved the ceremony. It was really relaxed, with laughter and a few happy tears! The moment we first saw each other as I walked down the aisle is a very vivid and special memory. Also, getting everyone on the dance floor for the final dance to The Lumineers, being surrounded by our family and friends - that was amazing.

The dress... My dress was Charlie Brear from Lola Bridal (no longer trading!), and it was my favourite thing I’ve ever worn.

The idea that we felt worked well on the day... Having Dodmoor House as our venue made planning a wedding much less stressful – we knew they would make sure the day ran smoothly, and we had nothing to worry about! They were our best decision. Also, having a big sign with the timings of the day meant everyone knew what was happening and when.

Where we feel our budget was well spent... The drinks package that Dodmoor provide was such good value for money; everyone loved the ‘Pimp your Prosecco’. Also, we weren’t sure about having a wedding video, but decided to book ‘Shoot it yourself’. We’re so pleased we did, we’ve got a really personal wedding video with moments captured on film that we will treasure forever.

Finally, if we could give a tip to other couples... Delegate to people who are willing to help you! People love weddings and genuinely like to help, so don’t be afraid to take people up on their offers. We tried to do a lot ourselves, but by the final week, we were happily handing jobs out to everyone!

Special thanks to Sian and Frazer for sharing their story, and Summer Lily Photography for the photos x
