20 Autumnal Wedding Ideas

Ania Ames

Autumn is slowly "falling" upon us and we are actually excited about the prospect of cosy nights in, the office fire burning and party season!

Dodmoor House is a really beautiful place in Autumn. The lawn provides an effortlessy colourful backdrop with all the golden leaves, and the courtyard lights turn on earlier every signle day, and it looks truly magical during that evening period before your evening party kicks off!

Here are some of our favourite ways add a special touch to your Fall wedding!

1. Candles. Candles everywhere!

2. Autumn is in our opinion the season of snacks. Popcorn, toffee apples, cinder toffee, gingerbread... Why not serve some during your drinks reception!

3. Family style dining and hearty meals are always a big hit in Autumn - think large pies with mash and vegetables served to the tables, bangers and mash or host the roasts!

4. Break tradition and go glamourous in a gold dress and burgundy suit.

5. Collect pine cones to add to your centrepieces or to display place names.

6. Have a warming soup with yummy crusty bread for your starter.

7. Kick off your evening with a sparkler arch organised by the Dodmoor Team!

8. Offer your guests a glass of warmed apple cider during the drinks reception - we offer this as part of our Unlimited Drinks Package.

9. For smaller wedding parties there's nothing like eating in the Courtyard Barn, all lit up on one big table. It's the cosiest setting for your wedding breakfast!

10. Carve out pumpkins and add tea lights for a little nod to Halloween.

11. Whilst on the subject of Halloween, why not book a magician to add a little magic to the festivities - we know a great one!

12. Line your aisle with fallen leaves to add a colour (and it's free).

13. Provide blankets for guests to snuggle up in!

14. For favours you could give your guests mini whiskeys, gingerbread men or make your own hot chocolates for when nursing a hangover the next morning!

15.  Add seasonal berries and foliage to your wedding cake, and go seasonal with the flavours too. One of our favourites from last year was an apple and mixed spice flavour...

16. Throw on a leather jacket for your photos, not only to keep you warm but to look ridiculously cool too.

17. Also, don't forget about keeping your bridesmaids warm during photos! A faux fur throw adds instant chic to any photo.

18. Have fun with your flowers - go bold with marsala reds, burnt oranges and berry purples.

19. A red lip is a bold choice and definitely made for the cooler months.

20. Wooden decorations add to the rustic feel in the barns and are very Autumnal too. Think welcome signs, place settings or even use our Dodmoor log slices for your centrepieces!

Anyone else feel like they need a hot chocolate with all the trimmings after all the cosiness?
